Parish church Viechtwang
The Roman Catholic parish church Viechtwang is located in the village of Viechtwang in the municipality of Scharnstein in the Gmunden district in Upper Austria . It is to St. John Ev. consecrated and belongs to the deanery Pettenbach in the diocese of Linz . The building is a listed building .
history
In 1159 the consecration of the first church is mentioned in a document. The current building dates from 1691. In 1723 the entire consecration took place.
Church building

The west tower has an onion helmet and a lantern above it . To the south of the choir is a two-bay chapel extension.
- Church interior
The church has a single nave and four bay nave. Above it is a needle cap barrel vault . Struts have been drawn in between them. The drafted choir has two bays and ends in the 3/8 end. The chancel with a stitch cap barrel vault is richly decorated with stucco from the end of the 17th century. The ceiling and wall paintings are by the artist Wolfgang Andreas Heindl . They represent " feeding the five thousand ", the " last supper ", " good shepherd " as well as the evangelists and Latin church fathers. The pilasters in the nave are Ionic . The pilasters in the choir are painted. The three-axis and two-bay west gallery rests on cross vaults. The chapel has a barrel vaulted cap with stucco.
Furnishing
The furnishings are largely neo-Romanesque . The pulpit was built in 1720, the paintings of the Stations of the Cross date from the same period. In the south chapel there are two baroque statues of Saints Peter and Paul from the second quarter of the 17th century. The wrought iron chandelier is from the 17th century.
