history
Viechtwang is its own parish and its baroque parish church was built from 1691 to 1723. From 1848 to 1976 the community was called Scharnstein Viechtwang, after the parish. Then Scharnstein, originally the seat of the guardianship court ( Scharnstein Castle ), had become so dominant that it became the capital of the municipality. The Viechtwang old people's home and the pilgrimage chapel on the Lasslberg also belong to the current parish of Viechtwang.
