The Roman Catholic parish church Weiden bei Rechnitz is on Dorfstrasse in the municipality Weiden bei Rechnitz in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. John Nepomuk and belongs to the dean's office in Rechnitz in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is a listed building .

history

The parish of Weiden bei Rechnitz was founded in 1808. The current church was built in 1819. The extension with transept, chancel and sacristy was built in 1953 according to plans by Karl Holey . A restoration took place in 1968.

Church building

Church exterior

The building is a simple classical church. The east tower with a pointed helmet is integrated into the facade. There are buttresses on both sides of the ship .

Church interior

The church has a two-story tower yoke with a three-axis square vaulted bell. The three bays of the nave are square vaulted. In between are wide belt arches that rest on flat pilasters . There is a barrel vault over the cross arms and the sanctuary . In the crossing of the cross arms with the chancel, they form a groin vault . The sanctuary is closed flat and round.

Furnishing

The original high altar was removed in 1966. Instead, there is now a newly painted figure of St. John Nepomuk from the 19th century on the wall. On the side altar is a figure of St. Mary with child from the middle of the 18th century.
