The Pflanzen-Kölle Gartencenter GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized German trading group that sells plants, garden supplies and furniture as well as small animals and animal supplies in its branches . The company's headquarters are in Heilbronn .
history
In 1818 David Kölle laid the foundations of the company in Ulm . His son Wilhelm opened a nursery for roses in Augsburg in 1859 . Over the years rose gardening developed into an imperial and royal purveyor to the court . After the company was taken over by the grandson of the company founder, Wilhelm Kölle Jr., it was relocated to Heilbronn in 1890 due to the climate. Wilhelm Kölle's son Hugo expanded the nursery to include a tree nursery with a full range.
After the war ended in 1945, the urgently needed fruit trees were first grown and sold. In 1956, Pflanzen-Kölle opened the first garden center in Europe.
From 1962, more garden centers and flower shops were opened in Germany. The current (January 2017) locations are:
