history

It is assumed that on the place where the care yard stands today, there was first a manor house, which was then converted into a grangie . which was then led by Konversen , lay brothers without consecration. It was also assumed that there was a monastery near the care courtyard. Pastor Christian Gottfried Nicolai wrote in his Memorabilia Oetisheimensia 1784 :

“A closter should have been here before olden times. One can still find features of a corridor which the religious have made use of from the care courtyard into the choir of the church. Perhaps that's why there is still a nursing here who may sayn one of the most considerable in the country. "

To this day, locals are of the opinion that there is a tunnel from the Pflegehof to the Maulbronn Monastery. It is unlikely that there was a passage to the church, since the care yard square was expanded in 1999 and only a well was found there, which was preserved.

During the War of the Palatinate Succession, Friedrich Karl von Württemberg stayed in the Pfälzhof in 1692 . When the French invaded the village after winning the battle at Ötisheim and burned it down, only a few buildings survived, including the Pflegehof. In 1727 the building was completely rebuilt because it was no longer worth repairs. The building material was brought in through compulsory labor from Ötisheimer as well as from other villages that were subordinate to Maulbronn Monastery. When they wanted to rebuild the Pflegehof wall, the Ötisheim residents protested, led by the then mayor Vollmer. Due to the straightening of the wall, it was initially unclear to what extent the boundaries of the care yard actually went. On the other hand, there was a public fountain that would have fallen victim if it had been straightened out. It was agreed that the well would remain and be accessible, but it was still unclear where the boundaries of the care yard were. After disputes with the nurse Johann Michael Speidel and the mayor, the mayor traveled to Stuttgart to protest against the Pflegehof wall. In that time the wall was raised to 3 meters. When the mayor returned, he claimed that a gentleman had said "tear down the devil" and reminded the citizens of their oath to him. The citizens removed the wall and paved the place up again. After this action, the mayor Vollmer was deposed and had to pay 1000 Reichstaler as a fine.

The Pflegehof was sold around 1810. In 1870, the Pflegehof became a brewery and restaurant , the Linck Brewery , and existed, with interruptions, until 1951. In 1973 the property was sold to the community. and in 1975 the building was renovated and is now used for the administration of the Ötisheim community.

Task of the nursing court

The care yard in Ötisheim served as the administrative center for the Maulbronn monastery in the villages of Ötisheim, Lomersheim , Dürrmenz , Mühlhausen , Kieselbronn , Enzberg and Mühlacker . The farmers and craftsmen who lived in the villages had to raise taxes. Either in kind, such as grain, fruit or eggs, or you paid with money. A nurse from Maulbronn Monastery was employed for this and received the documents required for this (documents, stock books , interest registers ). In addition to the care yard, the carer was also responsible for the tithe barn, the wine press, the rectory and the church tower with the choir .
