Phare du Portzic is the name of a lighthouse built in 1848 west of the city of Brest in the Finistère department in Brittany . It has a range of 20 nautical miles . It marks the passage of the Strait of Brest and is the closest lighthouse to Brest.
history
The lighthouse was built in 1848 at the same time as the Petit Minou lighthouse on a military site north of the Brest Strait , on the Pointe du Portzic headland .
In 1954 the operation was converted to electricity and automation followed in 1994. It is located directly opposite the Pointe des Espagnols .
