Phichit ( Thai : พิจิตร ) is a city ( เทศบาล เมือง พิจิตร ) in the Thai province of Phichit . It is the capital of the Phichit District ( Amphoe ) and the Phichit Province.
The city of Phichit has 22,644 inhabitants (as of 2012).
location
Phichit is located in the central region of Thailand . The city is located about 350 kilometers north of Bangkok on the Mae Nam Nan , one of the tributaries of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya in the middle of the rice fields of the central plain.
Economy and Transport
The economy is dominated by agriculture, by the cultivation of rice , pomelo and lotus flowers .
Phichit has a station of the Thai state railway on the north runway , the Bangkok with Chiang Mai connects.
history
Phichit was founded in 1058 by Phraya Khot Thabong. Since the reign of King Ramkhamhaeng, it has long belonged to the Sukhothai Kingdom and later to Ayutthaya .

- Wat Tha Luang (Thai: วัด ท่า หลวง ) - Buddhist temple ( wat ) from 1845 with Luang Pho Phet (Thai: หลวง พ่อ เพชร ), a much revered Buddha statue made of bronze in Chiang Saen-style.
- The station building in Phichit was designed and built between 1906 and 1912 by the German architect Karl Döhring .
- Boat races - on the Maenam Nan (Nan River) , long boat races take place in front of Wat Tha Luang in September
