Philip Major
Philip Major (born December 8, 1988 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian racing driver .
Career
Major began his motorsport career in karting in 2003 , where he was active until 2004. After he had been involved in club racing for a year, he switched to formula racing in 2006 and started in the US Formula BMW . After finishing 22nd overall in his first season, he finished tenth in the drivers' championship in 2007 with a podium finish.
In 2008 Major moved to Europe and competed for Fortec Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship . While his teammates Marcus Ericsson and Sebastian Hohenthal regularly scored points, the Canadian never got past ninth place. At the end of the season he finished 18th overall. In 2009 he moved to the Carlin championship team in the middle of the season and improved to 17th place overall.
In 2010 Major returned to North America and started for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the Indy Lights . After regularly finishing the races among the top ten pilots, he achieved his first podium finish in third in Joliet . Unlike three of his teammates, Jean Karl Vernay , Pippa Mann and Wade Cunningham , he couldn't win a race. At the end of the season he finished ninth overall.
