Pippa Mann (2011)

Pippa Mann (born August 11, 1983 in London ) is a British racing driver . She took part in several races of the IndyCar Series from 2011 to 2019 .

Career

Before Mann made her debut in formula racing in 2003 , she began her motorsport career in karting . In 2003 she started in the British Formula Renault Winter Championship and finished 22nd in the overall standings. In 2004 she competed in the regular British Formula Renault and finished the season in 34th place overall. In 2005 she competed for Comtec Racing in the French Formula Renault and in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . While she finished 21st overall in the French Formula Renault, she remained without points in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In 2006 she stayed with Comtec Racing and finished 19th in the British Formula Renault. She also started again in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and again remained without points.

In 2008 Pippa Mann drove in the Formula Renault 3.5

In 2007 Mann switched to Cram Competition in Formula Renault 3.5 and became a teammate of Fairuz Fauzy . She scored one point and finished her first season 27th overall while Fauzy had multiple podiums. In 2008 she switched to P1 Motorsport within Formula Renault 3.5 . While her teammate Giedo van der Garde won the championship title, Mann never got beyond seventh place and finished 25th overall at the end of the season. In addition to formula racing , she also gained experience in GT cars in the British Porsche Carrera Cup .

In 2009, Mann moved to North America for the Indy Lights and became a teammate of Martin Plowman at Panther Racing . In most races she did not keep up with her team-mate and at the end of the season she finished eighth as the best result and finished 14th overall. In 2010 , Mann played her second season in the Indy Lights for Sam Schmidt Motorsports . At the race in Joliet , she narrowly missed her first win. Mann led the race for most laps and was only overtaken by James Hinchcliffe two laps before the end to finish second. A week later she finally won the race at Kentucky Speedway by over six seconds for an oval race over Hinchcliffe. At the end of the season she finished fifth overall.

Man at the Indy 500 2019

In 2011 Mann competed for Conquest Racing in the IndyCar Series for the Indianapolis 500 . She then took part in three other races for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing . On her first assignment for the racing team, she was not given the go-ahead after a training accident. She suffered two minor injuries to her spine in the accident . At the last race of the season, Mann had to go to hospital again after an accident. She sustained severe burns on her little finger on her right hand that required reconstruction surgery. At the end of the season she finished 38th overall. 2012 was a man without a permanent cockpit. At the Indianapolis 500, Mann had been on the track since training began, but was not given a cockpit. After all, she only took part in two races in the Auto GP World Series for Campos Racing . He achieved a top 10 position at both starts and was 20th in the drivers' standings . In 2013 , Mann received a cockpit from Dale Coyne Racing for four races in the IndyCar Series . Her best result was a 15th place. In 2014 , Mann only competed in the Indianapolis 500 for Dale Coyne Racing . In 2015 Mann started for Dale Coyne Racing in the oval races of the IndyCar Series. Two 13th places were her best results. In the IndyCar Series 2016 she only took part in the oval races with a distance of 500 miles for Dale Coyne Racing and therefore only contested two races.
