Key West International Airport ( IATA : EYW , ICAO : KEYW ) is a public airport located three kilometers east of downtown Key West , Florida . The IATA code starts with the second letter of the name because "K" is a reserved block. Flights departing from the airport often have strict weight restrictions due to the short runway.
