Philip Michael Thomas

Philip Michael Thomas (born May 26, 1949 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American actor . He has also been featured in the credits of films under the names Philip M. Thomas or Philip Thomas . He was best known for his role as Ricardo Tubbs in the 1980s television series Miami Vice .

Life

Philip Michael Thomas began his career as a stage actor and made his debut in 1971 in the multi-award-winning play No Place to be Somebody . As a result, he had some minor appearances in films and guest appearances in various television productions. Among other things, Thomas had a guest appearance each in the successful series Starsky & Hutch and Roots .

In the mid-1980s, Thomas became world famous for his role as Ricardo Tubbs in the hit television series Miami Vice . Thomas also announced at the time that he would win all four of the major US entertainment industry awards . He could not win any of the prizes, but coined the name EGOT, which has been used since then for this achievement .

He also appeared as Willy Dumas on Two Super Guys in Miami and as Padre Zack in Two Angels with Four Fists . He also voiced the video game character Lance Vance in two games in the Grand Theft Auto series ( GTA: Vice City and GTA: Vice City Stories ).

Philip Michael Thomas also works as a musician and has been composing since he was eleven. In 1985 he published Livin 'the Book of My Life and in 1988 Somebody . The commercial success did not materialize, however. His music has a wide range of styles and some of his pieces - as well as songs by his colleague and film partner Don Johnson - have been used for Miami Vice.

He now lives in a villa in Coral Groves , Miami , Florida .
