Philip Pocock (* 1954 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian video , installation and digital artist.

life and work

Philip Pocock studied film and television production at New York University Film School . He completed his bachelor's degree in 1979. He then worked in the field of documentary photography, before taking up a teaching position in photography at the International Center of Photography from 1982 to 1990 . In 1988 he was a founding member of the Jourmal of Contemporary Art . In 1991 he moved to Germany and has been a professor at Pforzheim University since 1994 . He lives in Karlsruhe .

Philip Pocock worked with Florian Wenz , Udo Noll and Felix Stephan Huber on the Internet project A Description of the Equator and Some ØtherLands , which was shown on the documenta X website in 1997 .

Philip Pocock created the installation H | u | m | b | o | t in 1995 (in collaboration with the Center for Art and Media , Wolfgang Staehle , Christoph Keller and others).
