Philipp Becker (lawyer)

Philipp Becker (born April 6, 1702 in Rinteln ; † October 24, 1747 ibid) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Philipp was born as the son of the tax advisor in the county of Hessen-Schaumburg Philipp Friedrich Becker and his wife Anna Catharina Freund. Initially he attended the school in his hometown around 1720 at the University of Rinteln to study philosophical and legal sciences. For this purpose he attended the lectures at the philosophical faculty of Johann Kahler , Friedrich Wilhelm Bierling and Friedrich Ulrich Pestel (born January 25, 1691 in Rinteln; † November 3, 1764 ibid.). Henrich Ernst Kestner , Hermann Zoll (born February 3, 1643 in Kassel, † February 7, 1725 in Rinteln) and Pestel were his teachers at the Faculty of Law . He continued his studies with Everard Otto at the University of Utrecht . When he returned to the Hessian homeland, he received his father's position after his father's death. On October 27, 1732, he obtained his licentiate in law at the Rinteln University, became a lawyer in a law firm in Rinteln and on November 15, 1742 he was appointed associate professor at the Rinteln Faculty of Law. However, he did not have much time to work because he died five years later.

From his marriage on May 15, 1737 in Rinteln to Johanne Sophie Huxholtz (* 1716), the daughter of the chancellery Johann Valentin Huxholtz (* January 25, 1675 in Kassel; † December 8, 1751 in Rinteln) and his on October 9 Mrs. Marien Catharinen Chuno († 1716) married in 1710, the daughter Johanne Fridericke Becker comes from.
