Coat of Arms (1698)

Philipp Christoph Cob von Nüdingen (* 1655 ; † June 9, 1699 ) was a Luxembourg officer .

Life

Philipp Christoph, who came from the Bitburg family Cob von Nüdingen , was the son of Philipp Christoph (II.) Cob von Nüdingen († 1671) and Anna Margaretha Mohr von Wald († 1692). He was lord of Niederweis , co- lord of Oberstedem and Niederstedem and also owned the Liescher Berg . Wolfgang Friedrich Cob von Nüdingen is his first cousin.

A large-format coat of arms from 1698 has been preserved from Philipp Christoph in Traben-Trarbach . The donation of this disc is likely to be related to the completion of the French fortress of Mont Royal this year . Cob served on the side of Louis XIV after the Reunion War . Perhaps he donated the disk to the fortress chapel or a representative room. He is referred to in the Armorial général de France as ecuier (French noble servant ).

Philipp Christoph Cob von Nüdingen is buried in the Niederweis church. The grave slab is now on the ground floor of the church tower. The inscription of the grave slab reads: HIC IACET PRÆNOBIL [i] S / PILLVSTR [I] S PHILIPPVS CHRISTOPHORVS COB BARON A NVDINGEN / D [o] M [inu] S IN NIDERWEIS VLTIM [us] / FAMILIÆ OBŸT JVN 9 1699 REQVIESCAT IN SANCTAVIES PACE AMEN. (The extremely noble and respected Philipp Christoph Cob Freiherr von Nüdingen, lord of Niederweis, last of his line, died on June 9, 1699. He may rest in holy peace. Amen.) The grave slab bears the Cob von Nüdingen coat of arms as a sample of nobility , Anna Margaretha Mohr vom Wald (mother), Anna von Bacharach (grandmother) and Schilling von Lahnstein .
