Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe-Neuenstein (born August 11, 1584 in Langenburg , † January 29, 1628 in Weikersheim ) was Count of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.

biography

He was born as the fourth son of Wolfgang II von Hohenlohe (1546–1610), who later became regent of the county of Weikersheim and his wife Magdalena von Nassau-Dillenburg (1547–1633).

After his military service in the Netherlands , he inherited the Dutch rule of Lißfeld from his uncle, Count Philipp von Hohenlohe-Neuenstein (1550-1606). After his father's death he received in 1610 after the division of the country with his brothers Georg Friedrich (1569-1647) (Weikersheim) and power (1582-1641) (New Stone) the rule Langenburg, where it immediately with the construction of the castle Langenburg began . Until his discharge as colonel of the States General , he often stayed in the Netherlands.

He died at the age of 44 of a "stone ailment" in Weikersheim. He was buried together with his wife in the crypt of the Langenburg town church. A stone tomb in memory of the couple still stands behind the altar .

On January 15, 1609 he married Countess Anna Maria zu Solms-Sonnenwalde (1585–1634), daughter of Count Otto zu Solms-Sonnenwalde.
