Philipp Haller
Philipp Haller (* 1698 in Innsbruck ; † 1772 ibid) was an Austrian painter .
life and work
Haller received his artistic training from Nikolaus Auer in Passeier and from Giovanni Battista Piazzetta in Venice . He then lived in Innsbruck. He painted portraits and altarpieces, among others for the Jesuit Church and the Servite Monastery in Innsbruck, the Wilten Abbey and the Fiecht Abbey . In addition, he created numerous drawings in charcoal and chalk in the tradition of Piazzetta, which are characterized by the alternation of broad, light surfaces with jagged shadows. One of his students was Joseph Schöpf .
