Philipp Meyer (politician)

Philipp Meyer (born March 29, 1896 in Auhausen ; † January 29, 1962 ) was a German CSU politician .

Life and work

After attending primary school , Meyer, who was of Protestant faith, attended an agricultural training school from 1909 to 1912. After his first professional activity, he went to the German milling school in Dippoldiswalde in 1913/14 and then worked as a journeyman miller. In 1922 he passed the examination as a master miller and was elected head master of the miller's guild in 1931. Since he also ran an agricultural business in addition to his milling business, he was also involved in the local board of the Bavarian Farmers' Union . Meyer was a member of the NSDAP and from 1933 district leader. Towards the end of the war, Meyer was sentenced to death by an SS court martial for refusing to make his district ready for defense and to evacuate the population. From 1949 he was a member of the board of the Bavarian Millers Association. He was also active as a district master craftsman and honorary master of the German craft.

Deputy
Meyer belonged to the German Bundestag from 1953 until his death. He represented the constituency of Donauwörth in parliament.
