Philipp Schäfer (theologian)
Philipp Schäfer (born July 19, 1934 in Wendelsheim near Rottenburg , † July 17, 2002 in Passau ) was a German Catholic theologian .
Schäfer was ordained a priest in 1960. This was followed by teaching activities at the University of Munich , the Philosophical-Theological University of Königstein and then in Fulda . In 1980 he came to the University of Passau , where he held the chair for dogmatics and the history of dogmas at the Catholic Theological Faculty until 2001 . From 1986 to 1987 he was also the dean of the faculty. Schäfer published numerous writings on the Eucharist and the sacrament of penance . Schäfer died in 2002 after a serious illness.
Schäfer wrote numerous articles in the Biographisch-Bibliographisches Kirchenlexikon (BBKL).
