Philipp Sporrer
Philipp Sporrer (born May 1, 1829 in Murnau am Staffelsee , † July 30, 1899 in Munich ) was a German history and genre painter .
Philipp Sporrer studied from December 2, 1844 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Philipp von Foltz , and later briefly with Moritz von Schwind .
In addition to numerous oil paintings, Philipp Sporrer created some fresco wall paintings, including a. in the Bavarian National Museum , also illustrated some books, such as B. “The Baron von Münchhausen's wonderful journeys and adventures on water and on land” and “Pictures of German folk and favorite songs”, as well as “Stories from the Munich truce”. Many of his works appeared in the " Gartenlaube ".
Sporrer taught freehand drawing at the Munich Polytechnic and was appointed full professor in 1877.
In 1897 an exhibition of Sporfer's works of all kinds from his entire creative period was held in Munich.
