Philipp Wehr (born April 10, 1906 in Munich , † February 20, 1960 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the German Bundestag .

Wehr was initially called Zopf after his father . In 1933 he took the name of his mother Wehr . After attending the community school in Eberswalde , he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. In 1922 he founded an apprentice association in the construction industry, joined the Central Association of Carpenters in 1923 and then worked in this trade. In addition, he attended the adult education center and took private courses in mathematics and building design. In 1928/29 he trained at the Federal School of the General German Trade Union Federation (ADGB) in Bernau near Berlin , the School of Work in Leipzig , the SPD school in Strausberg and the agricultural school in Brieselang . In 1933 he became the district works council at Märkische Wasserstraßen.

In April 1933, Wehr fled to Lüneburg for political reasons and under a false name . There he worked as an agricultural worker and carpenter before he worked from 1937 to 1939 as an employee of the waterways office in Wesermünde . In 1938 he passed the master craftsman's examination and was employed as a construction manager in Poland, among other places, during the war from 1939 to 1945.

Wehr had been managing director since 1945 and from 1947 to 1953 co-owner of Baugesellschaft Sperling mbH in Bremerhaven . He joined the IG Bau-Steine-Erden and worked as a master carpenter in Bremerhaven-Geestemünde .

politics

Wehr was involved in the Spartacus youth and the socialist youth movement from 1920 . In 1925 he co-founded the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) in Eberswalde and later headed the SAJ sub-district Oberbarnim - Uckermark . He joined the SPD in 1926 and was elected chairman of the SPD local association in Eberswalde in 1930. In addition, he was a member of the party's district executive committee there. In 1933 he was elected to the town council of Eberswalde for a short time and ran for the Prussian state parliament.

After 1945 Wehr was chairman of the district association of the SPD Bremerhaven-Geestemünde and from 1946 to 1955 city councilor in Bremerhaven. He was a member of the German Bundestag from May 21, 1952, when he was re-elected for the late member of parliament Bernhard Lohmüller , until his death in 1960. He represented the constituency of Bremerhaven - Bremen-Nord in parliament. He was an active pacifist, was involved in the anti-nuclear movement and voted in the Bundestag against the establishment of the Bundeswehr.

From 1951 to 1955 Wehr served as an honorary city councilor in Bremerhaven for the health department.

He was also a member of the board of trustees of the youth counseling center for mental hygiene and of the board of directors of the Bremerhaven swimming pool company.
