Philip of Hessen-Homburg
Philipp von Hessen-Homburg (born April 3, 1676 in Weferlingen , † November 15, 1703 near Speyer ) from the House of Hessen was a Hessian dragoon officer, most recently major general .
Philipp was the third son of Landgrave Friedrich II of Hessen-Homburg (1633–1708), the famous “Prince of Homburg”, and his second wife, Princess Luise Elisabeth (1646–1690), daughter of Duke Jakob von Kurland ( 1610-1662).
He entered the military service of Landgrave Karl von Hessen-Kassel . In its 1688 by Count Johann Ernst of Nassau-Weilburg established Dragoon - Regiment , he was in 1695 Lieutenant Colonel 1696 Colonel and successor of Albrecht von Tettau as head of this regiment. In 1701 he was promoted to major general.
He fell unmarried during the War of the Spanish Succession on November 15, 1703 in the Battle of the Speyerbach .
