Philippe Cavoret

Philippe Cavoret (born January 11, 1968 in Aix-les-Bains ) is a former French skeleton driver .

Philippe Cavoret started skeleton in 1992 and was trained by J. Simian. The water ski instructor now lives in Aix-les-Bains. Cavoret has been internationally active since the mid-1990s. He took part in his first world championship in Altenberg in 1994 and finished in 32nd place. In March 1995 he won skeleton World Cup points for the first time in Lillehammer as 24th . He was among the top ten for the first time in December 1997 as eighth in La Plagne . In 2002 he started for the first time at the Olympic Winter Games , where competitions in skeleton sport were held for the first time since 1948. In Salt Lake City , he finished 17th. In February 2003 he won his only World Cup in Altenberg. Cavoret's best result at a world championship he achieved in Nagano in 2003 in seventh place. He was one place better at the 2004 European Championships in Altenberg, and in 2005 he was seventh in the same place. Also at the World Championships in 2004 and 2005 he achieved good placements with eighth and seventh place. The Frenchman contested his last big race in 2006 at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin , where he finished 14th. Cavoret was one of the few athletes who twice took part in Olympic competitions in skeleton. Between 1999 and 2006, Cavoret won the title of French champion six times, and in 1998 and 2007 he won silver. In 1997 he finished third.
