Philippe Juvin

Philippe Juvin (born February 1, 1964 in Orléans ) is a French politician and has been a member of the European Parliament since the 2009 European elections .

Professionally, Juvin worked as an anesthesiologist ; he is a professor of medicine in Paris and is employed in anesthesiology at the Hôpital Beaujon in Clichy . In 2007 he was appointed by President Sarkozy to serve on a commission for the diagnosis and research of Alzheimer's disease .

Juvin had been a member of the La Garenne-Colombes parish council since 1983 and was mayor of the parish from 2001 to 2008 . In 2004 he also became a member of the Hauts-de-Seine department and then vice-chairman of the Conseil général des Hauts-de-Seine . For the National Assembly he is the successor ( suppléant ) of the MP Jacques Kossowski .

In the European elections in 2009 he was elected to the EU Parliament (EP) on the list of the Union pour un mouvement populaire (UMP) behind Michel Barnier , Rachida Dati , Jean-Marie Cavada and Marielle Gallo . There he was a member of the committees on the internal market and consumer protection and women's rights and gender equality, and an alternate member of the committees on the environment, public health and food safety and the subcommittee on security and defense .

In May 2014 he moved back into the EP.

There have been several controversies about Juvin in France. In 2008 Juvin had a collège in Garenne-Colombes named after the writer Kléber Haedens , a follower of Charles Maurras , and distributed to all 6th grade students Une Histoire de la littérature Française von Haedens. The decision was reversed in 2009 by the Conseil Général of Hauts-de-Seine.
