Philipps Tierstunde was a TV production by SWR and ARD that was broadcast on KiKA . It was an animal show with the plush mouse Philipp. Philipp's animal lesson was canceled after the broadcast on August 31, 2002 because there were difficulties with the licensor at the time; the mouse in the show was too different from the original figure in the books. These difficulties should be circumvented by the original production of the follow-up broadcast of the Südwestrundfunk.

Prehistory of the character "Philipp the Mouse"

“Philipp the Mouse” was invented in 1982 by the Austrian illustrator Hanne Türk as a picture book character.

The television career of "Philipp the Mouse" began in 1987 with the animated series "Philipp the Mouse", which ran until 1994 on ARD and in the third program on SWF / SDR / SR.

Philip's animal lesson

Philipp's animal lesson ran live on KiKA from 1996 to 2002 and was broadcast as a repeat on ARD , SWR and the fourth . Philip's animal lesson included animal films, advice from a veterinarian, quizzes, and guests who brought their animals and answered questions about them.

The cat Tiger - also an invention by Hanne Türk - was mostly on the shelf, although it played a major role in the cartoon series. The mailbag also rarely spoke up and was only used when the winner was drawn. Mostly it was about Philipp and the moderator.

Moderators:

  1. Georg Holzach moderated the program from 1996 to 1997 and is now a presenter at hr .
  2. Mathias Münch moderated the program from 1997 to 1999 and today moderates the c't magazin.tv at hr.
  3. Ernst-Marcus Thomas moderated the program until the end of the program and then the follow-up program Oli's Wilde Welt until 2005 . He then switched to the ARD Buffet until 2008 and moderated the ZDF TV garden from 2008 to 2009 . Alexander Königsmann took over his role at Philipps Tierstunde until the end of 2007.
  4. Conny Horn moderated the show until the end of 2002 and then the follow-up show until the end of 2007. From 2008 this show was continued without moderators.

Follow-up broadcast

The follow-up show is Oli's Wilde Welt , which Ernst-Marcus Thomas presented until 2005 and Conny Horn (today: Conny Kniep) until the end of 2007. Instead of Philipp, Oli was the new main character. Since 2008 it has been running on Saturdays at 10:35 a.m. and there are no longer any moderators. It is an animal report in which Oli has been driving around with his OLI MOBIL since April 2008, telling a lot about animals and being supported by the inventor Tobi Tüftel, played by Jan Gustav Mixsa.

End of broadcast

On August 31, 2002, the last episode of Philip's animal hour was broadcast. On the show, Philipp explained that he was the worldwide carrot guard. Calls for help from mice from all over the world were repeatedly faded in, asking Philip to help them. At the end of the program, Philipp flies away with the mailbag in a hot air balloon to save the global carrot harvest. During the broadcast, Philipp stated several times that this mission would take "an infinitely long secret" and that he would not be there next Saturday. Shortly before the end of the program, Philipp turns to the audience and explains that they will not see each other again now. Then Philipp and the mailbag say goodbye to the audience.
