Photo Kano ( Japanese フ ォ ト カ ノ , Fotokano , German: "Photo girlfriend") is a Japanese dating simulation game ( Ren'ai simulation ). The game was released on February 2, 2012 for the PlayStation Portable , and with additional content as Photo Kano Kiss for the PlayStation Vita on April 25, 2013. In addition to the games, five manga and one TV anime adaptation were released.

Photo Kano is about Kazuya, a high school student who one day gets an old camera from his father. From then on he occupied himself intensively with his new hobby and began to see the world with different eyes. He rediscovered his surroundings and soon joined the Foto-AG. His camera, he thinks, will help him make new friends. Above all, he gets to know many girls through her, because they all want to be in front of his lens.

Photo Kano was developed by Dingo and Enterbrain and published by Kadokawa Games . The game was originally supposed to be released on September 29, 2011, but was delayed until February 2, 2012. On February 29, 2012, it was also released as a download version on PlayStation Network . A new edition, Photo Kano Kiss , with improved graphics, game mechanics and a new storyline was released for the PlayStation Vita on April 25, 2013. This received an additional expansion on February 5, 2015.

Manga

The first manga adaptation, Photo Kano: Sweet Snap , drawn by Yuzuki N ' appeared on November 27, 2011 (1/2012 issue) in ASCII Media Works ' manga magazine Dengeki Maoh , before the game was released and ran until July 27, 2013 (edition 9/2013). The chapters were also summarized in three anthologies ( Tankōbon ).

The second manga, Photo Kano: Your Eyes Only , by Nylon was published on February 24, 2012 (issue 5/2012) to September 20, 2013 (issue 18/2013) in the magazine Young Animal by Hakusensha . The sequel Photo Kano: Your Eyes Only Special Photo started on June 29, 2012 at Young Animal Island No. 19, then switched to its successor Young Animal Innocent No.1 on March 19, 2014 after they were discontinued . The first part was republished in four, the second in an anthology.

Photo Kano Memorial Pictures of Taichi Amasora first appeared on 12 March 2012 (issue 4/2012) and ran until 2013 in the Comic Earth Star of Earth Star Entertainment . The chapters have been summarized in three edited volumes.

Photo Kano: Happy Album by Kaisanbutsu was published on May 30, 2012 in Gianism magazine (Vol.2) and ended in Tech Gian on August 21, 2013 (issue 10/2013). Photo Kano: Love Album by Takao Hino was released from June 22, 2012 to August 23, 2013 in Famitsu Comic Clear . Both series were also summarized by Enterbrain in two anthologies.

Light novel

On March 30 and June 30, 2012, Enterbrain published two volumes of a light novel series entitled Photo Kano: Pentaprism Memories ( フ ォ ト カ ノ ペ ン タ プ リ ズ ム ・ メ モ リ ー ズ ), which was written by Fumihiko Shimo . The illustrations were by Natsume Shimano .

Anime

A 13 episode long anime adaptation was made in Studio Madhouse under the direction of Akitoshi Yokoyama , who also wrote the script. The first four episodes represent the common route at the beginning of the and each subsequent episode the possible route of one of the girls. The anime was first broadcast in Japan from April 5 to June 28, 2013 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on TBS , as well as MBS , CBS and BS-TBS with a delay .

The biasing title Koisuru Lens ( 恋するレンズ , Koisuru Renzu ) was obtained from Hayato Kaori sung, the closing titles Smile F ( スマイルF , Sumairu F ) was of Utah Kano, a band consisting of the dubbing Kanae Ito , Mai Nakahara , Hisako Kanemoto , Kaori Mizuhashi , Chiwa Saitō and Miyuki Sawashiro sung, the first four episodes by all together and then by the respective protagonist alone.

In the US, the anime was licensed by Sentai Filmworks and was released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2014. In Germany, the anime was acquired by the publisher Kazé .
