Physicists & Co.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Physikanten & Co. are a team of scientists and artists who develop science shows for stage and television. In their shows, the physicists combine spectacular experiments with understandable explanations and elements of a comedy show. They also offer presentations on scientific topics, workshops and training for teachers. Since it was founded in 2000, the Physikanten have reached more than a million viewers - in Germany, but also across Europe as well as in Japan , South Africa , Abu Dhabi and Jordan . Physikanten founder Marcus Weber regularly presents spectacular experiments in the ARD Saturday evening show " Who knows something XXL " with Elton and Bernhard Hoëcker .

history

The physicists were founded in 2000 by the physicists Jörg Gutschank and Marcus Weber (née Hienz). In addition to their studies, both performed as jugglers and small artists. At the end of their studies, they applied for funding from the Science on Stage organization with the aim of making physics fit for the stage and thus getting more people interested in the natural sciences. With the funding, the first stage show on the subject of mechanics was created . Appearances at trade fairs, for companies, schools and universities followed. Further shows on various topics were created. Over the years, the physicists have been awarded various prizes.

After Jörg Gutschank left, Marcus Weber continued to run the company on his own, which he still manages today. The team includes permanent employees in the office, workshop and warehouse in Witten ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) as well as a group of actors with an acting and scientific background. The physicists now record around 200 performance days a year.

In addition, the physicists deliver experiments for various television programs, including Ask the Mouse ( Das Erste ), Galileo ( ProSieben ), Luke! The school and me ( Sat.1 ), the best class in Germany ( KiKA ) and the ZDF television garden . In the Saturday evening show Who knows because sowas XXL (Das Erste), Marcus Weber presents spectacular experiments.
