politics

Döring joined the SPD in 1976. In 2004 she resigned because she rejected the agenda policy of the then federal government under Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . In the same year she became a member of the newly founded WASG . Through their merger with the PDS in 2007 Döring became a member of the resulting party Die Linke.

For Die Linke she was parliamentary group leader in the Ottweiler city council and also chairwoman of the local branch of the party Die Linke. From 2005 to 2009 she was the office manager of the Bundestag member Volker Schneider . In the state elections on March 25, 2012, she won a seat in the Neunkirchen constituency . On April 12, 2012 she announced her resignation from the party Die Linke and her entry into the SPD, which she justified with personal motives. Her former party colleagues on the left have accused her of voting fraud. A criminal complaint and an election complaint before the constitutional court of the Saarland failed; Döring kept her mandate.

As the main focus of her work, she herself described the "commitment to the socially disadvantaged in this society, above all: children, senior citizens and single parents." Döring sits on the committees for submissions, for data protection, for 'social affairs, health, women and family' and ' Environment and consumer protection '. She is the working group chairman in the Working Group on Data Protection and Freedom of Information and Submissions.
