Pichelsdorf is a village in the Berlin district of Wilhelmstadt ( Spandau district ).

geography

The former fishing village of Pichelsdorf is located on a peninsula that is enclosed in the east by the Havel and Pichelssee lakes and in the west by the Grimnitzsee and the Scharfen Lanke (also known as the "Pichelsdorfer window"). The island of Pichelswerder is located on the opposite bank of the Havel and Pichelssee .

history

Pichelsdorf was first mentioned in 1375 in the land book of Emperor Charles IV . The name refers to Pichel , an old name for pitch , and refers to the extraction of wood tar that was previously carried out there . In the early 19th century the English founded John B. Humphreys , a shipyard in Pichelsdorf and built the first steamboat in Prussia , in 1817 and 1818 on the Havel and Spree circulating Princess Charlotte of Prussia . A brewery and a porcelain factory were also built later. With the completion of Heerstraße at the beginning of the 20th century, the village was divided into two areas. Until it was incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920, Pichelsdorf was an independent rural community in the Osthavelland district . In the 1910 census , the place had 408 inhabitants.

Development

The oldest house in Pichelsdorf still preserved today is the former Dorfkrug ( Alt-Pichelsdorf  30) from 1786. In the immediate vicinity on Scharfen Lanke, the DLRG's federal teaching and research facility with a striking tower was built in the 1970s . There are numerous on the banks of the sharp Lanke and Lake Pichel jetties and the marina Marina Lanke .
