Pidhajzi ( Ukrainian Підгайці ; Russian Подгайцы Podgaizy , Polish Podhajce ) is a village in the southeast of the Ukrainian Volyn Oblast with about 3100 inhabitants (2001).
The 1526 first documentary mentioned village situated on the banks of the Styx and the highway M 19 / European route E85 8 km southeast from the center of Oblasthauptstadt Lutsk .
On March 7, 2018, the village became the center of the newly established rural community of Pidhajzi (Підгайцівська сільська громада / Pidhajziwska silska hromada ). At that includes also the 4 villages Krupa (Крупа) Lyschtsche (Лище) Strumiwka (Струмівка) and Worotniw (Воротнів) until then, the village formed together with the villages Krupa ( Крупа , ⊙ ) with about 900 inhabitants and Strumiwka ( Струмівка , ⊙ ) with about 670 inhabitants the district council of the same name.
Personalities
The Polish writer Gabriela Zapolska († 1921) was born on March 30, 1857 in the village.
