Pierre Bismuth (* 1963 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French cameraman , painter and screenwriter who worked with Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman on the screenplay for the romantic drama Forget mine not! (2004) was awarded several prizes.

biography

Bismuth, an artist and cameraman living in London , studied at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD). As a painter, he created series of pictures under titles such as From Red to Nothing and From Green to Something Else , Something less, Something More (2002 to 2006) and Replaced by the Same (2003). Some of his paintings are exhibited in the Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg .

He also wrote the script for Forget Mine Not with Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman . and was awarded the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay at the 2005 Academy Awards. The three also received the Bram Stoker Award for Best Screenplay, the Online Film Critics Society Awards for Best Original Screenplay, and the Writers Guild of America Award (WGA Award) for Best Original Screenplay .

In 2014 he and the architect Nicolas Firket designed the sculpture Neues Vindobona, which resembles a building board, for the Kunsthalle Wien .
