Piet Henningsen
The Piet Henningsen (also: Restaurant Piet Henningsen ) in Flensburg at ship bridge no. 20 is one of the city's cultural monuments .
background
The inn building was built around 1800 at the Flensburg harbor . On the street side, it consists of a two-storey, grouted brick building with wall anchors , the gable roof of which is eaves . On the courtyard side are two two-story side wings with pent roofs . In 1886 the ship's carpenter Reinhold Henningsen opened the restaurant in this building, which apparently initially counted sailors and sea machinists (cf. Flensburg Navigation School ) among their customers. The restaurant was later named Piet Henningsen after his son . Over time, the tavern developed into a restaurant . Nowadays, the harbor restaurant offers fish dishes in particular. In more recent times the building has been placed under monument protection for historical and urban planning reasons .
