Pietro Sfair

Pietro Sfair (born February 10, 1888 in Klaihat ; † May 18, 1974 ) was a Lebanese clergyman , archbishop and ordinary for the Maronite believers in Rome .

Life

Pietro Sfair received on 8 March 1913, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 11, 1953, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Epiphany in Syria and professor of the Maronite faithful in Rome. The Prefect of the Congregation for Ceremonies , Cardinal Eugène Tisserant , ordained him episcopal on May 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the vice-gentleman for the diocese of Rome , Luigi Traglia , and the auxiliary bishop in Ostia and Porto and Santa Rufina , Pietro Villa FSCJ . Pope John XXIII appointed him on March 11, 1960 titular Archbishop of Nisibis dei Maroniti .

Pietro Sfair participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
