Pija Linden Tree
Pija Margareta Lindenbaum (born April 27, 1955 in Sundsvall ) is a Swedish writer , graphic artist and illustrator . She became known for her numerous picture books . From 1999 to 2007 she was a member of the Swedish Children's Book Academy on Chair No. 14.
Life
Lindenbaum grew up in Sundsvall and began studying at the Stockholm Art School in 1979 . She then worked as a draftsman and author and mainly created original, humorous children's books, which were also successfully published outside of Sweden in English, German, Japanese, French and Dutch. Her work has been honored with many domestic and foreign awards.
The children's opera Min mamma är en drake , based on the book När Åkes mamma glömde bort , was performed at the Gothenburg Opera and the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm . The costumes were designed by Lindenbaum. Many of her books have been dramatized and performed on stages in Sweden and abroad. The film Siv sover vilse ( Mia sleeps elsewhere ), loosely based on the book of the same name, premiered in Sweden in autumn 2016 .
