The Pik Dankow (also Pik Dankowa ; Anglicized: Peak Dankova ) is a mountain in Tian Shan in Atbaschy Rajon in the Naryn area in southeast Kyrgyzstan not far from the border with the People's Republic of China .

location

The 5982  m high mountain forms the highest point in the western part of the Kakschaaltoo . It is 5 km north of the main ridge of the mountain range that forms the border with China. The Dschengisch Tschokusu ( Pik Pobeda ), highest mountain in the Kakschaaltoo and in the Tian Shan , is 230 km east-northeast. The Pik Dankow is located on a mountain ridge that branches off from the main ridge to the northwest. The mountain ridge is flanked in the east by the Tschong Turasu glacier and in the west by the Grigoryev glacier . The view from the summit of Pik Dankow on the 538 km distant and 6436  m high mountain Hindu Tagh is the furthest line of sight on earth.

Ascent history

The first ascent of Pik Dankow was probably made in 1969 by an expedition led by N. Strikitsa over the southwest face.
