The Moscow Peak ( Russian пик Москва , Tajik Қуллаи Москва , Qullai Moscow ) is a mountain in Tajikistan in Central Asia .

location

The 6785  m high glaciated mountain forms the highest point of the Peter I chain in the western Pamirs . 15.7 km further east rises the 7,495  m high Ismoil Somoni Peak (formerly Communism Peak or Stalin Peak ). Three mountain ridges meet at Moscow Peak. One leads east to Pik Ismoil Somoni, another leads towards west-southwest and a third to north-west. The Fortambek glacier flows on the northeast flank . The upper end of the Sagrang Glacier is on the western flank . South of Moscow Peak , the Gando Glacier flows in a westerly direction.

Ascent history

The main summit was first climbed in 1959 by I. Bogachev. The somewhat lower western summit ( 6725  m ) was first climbed in 1956 by D. Oboladze.
