Pikuniku is an adventure computer game developed by the Franco-British indie studio Sectordub and distributed by Devolver Digital . The game was released worldwide on January 24, 2019 for Nintendo Switch , Windows , macOS and Linux . The player controls a red creature named Piku who lives in a cave in a colorful 2D world. The aim of the adventure is to thwart Mr. Sunshine and his plan to collect all the island's resources for dark reasons.
Overview
The game begins when the hero Piku wakes up from a long sleep in a cave. Piku ventures into the neighboring village and terrorizes the residents. They lock him in a cage for destroying the village bridge and they release him when he promises to fix it. Then Piku needs to understand what the intentions of Mr. Sunshine and his Sunshine Inc. are.
Gameplay
Pikuniku is a puzzle and adventure video game in which the player must control the red and armless creature named Piku. The player walks through a fun and colorful 2D world and solves puzzles. Most puzzles involve pushing objects on switches to open doors and access new locations. Piku can also use his legs as a lasso to hang from hook to hook, or curl up into a ball, which allows him to move faster. During the game, the player traverses villages and interacts with their residents. It is possible to find or even buy items like hats. The game also has a cooperative mode with nine game sections. The second player controls Niku, an orange creature that resembles Piku. In this mode, both players must work together to reach a boat at the end of each segment of the game.
