Pingtan
Pingtan ( Chinese 平潭 縣 / 平潭 县 , Pinyin Píngtán xiàn ) is a district that belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture -level city of Fuzhou in southeast China 's Fujian Province . Pingtan is in the southeast of Fuzhou. The district is made up of 126 large and small islands and almost a thousand reefs. The main island of Haitan (海 坛 岛) is the fifth largest island in China. Pingtan has a land area of 371.7 km² and a water area of approx. 2,164 km². At the end of 2003, there were 386,100 residents with primary residence in Pingtan.
Administrative structure
At the community level, Pingtan is composed of seven large communities and eight communities . These are (2004 population):
- Large community Tancheng (潭 城镇), 12.1 km², 46,900 inhabitants, center, seat of the district government;
- Large community Su'ao (苏澳 镇), 28.6 km², 40,000 inhabitants;
- Greater community Liushui (流水镇), 42.9 km², 50,000 inhabitants;
- Aoqian municipality (澳 前 镇), 27.9 km², 42,800 inhabitants;
- Large municipality of Beicuo (北 厝 镇), 58.8 km², 38,000 inhabitants;
- Pingyuan Municipality (平原 镇), 22.9 km², 26,000 inhabitants;
- Greater community Aodong (敖东镇), 27.6 km², 31,400 inhabitants;
- Baiqing municipality (白 青 乡), 9.2 km², 20,300 inhabitants;
- Yutou Municipality (屿 头 乡), 15.3 km², 16,000 inhabitants;
- Dalian Municipality (大 练 乡), 14.7 km², 9,000 inhabitants;
- Luyang municipality (芦 洋 乡), 31 km², 6,800 inhabitants;
- Community Zhonglou (中楼乡) km² 25.7, 22.500 inhabitants;
- Dongxiang Township (东 庠 乡), 5.6 km², 10,000 inhabitants;
- Lancheng municipality (岚 城乡), 34.2 km², 23,000 inhabitants;
- Nanhai Township (南海 乡), 15.2 km², 10,100 inhabitants.
