The Pintail Peninsula ( English is) about a 3.5 km long peninsula on the north coast of South Georgia . Between Stromness Harbor in the north and Husvik Harbor in the south, it stretches from Berntsen Ridge in the west to Tønsberg Point in the east. The eastern part consists of small, tussock- covered hills and some small freshwater lakes .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them after the endemic subspecies of the pointed- tailed duck that breeds here (English South Georgia pintail , Latin Anas georgica georgica ).
