The Piper PA-44 Seminole is a twin-engine, four-seat light aircraft produced by the US aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft Corporation , which was developed as a training and touring aircraft . The PA-44 is a further development of the Piper PA-28 .

development

The first production Piper Seminole was equipped with two 134 kW Lycoming O-360-E1A6D engines. The propellers turned in opposite directions, which balances the torque of both engines.

The Seminole was certified on March 10, 1978 and introduced in late 1978. The gross weight is 1723 kg (3800 lbs).

Seminoles produced later were fitted with Lycoming O-360-A1H6 engines.

The PA-44-180T Turbo Seminole was certified on November 29, 1979 and built between 1981 and 1982. It has two Lycoming TO-360-E1A6D turbochargers , which significantly improved performance at higher altitudes. The gross weight increased to 1780 kg (3925 lbs) while the landing weight remained the same at 1723 kg (3800 lbs).

The PA-44 has a high T-tail similar to that of the Arrow IV and is similar to the Beechcraft Duchess .

The Seminole was built in 1979–82, 1989–90, and again since 1995.
