Martin Pitayo

Martín Pitayo ( Martín Pitayo Martínez; born January 10, 1960 ) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner .

In 1984 he finished ninth in the Los Angeles International Marathon. At the Olympics in Los Angeles , he was eliminated over 10,000 m in the heat, and in the Chicago Marathon , he was sixth.

The following year he won over 10,000 m at the Athletics Central American and Caribbean Championships silver and was fourth at the Athletics World Cup in Canberra .

In 1989 he finished fifth in the Crescent City Classic and fourth in the Columbus Marathon , and in 1990 he won the Azalea Trail Run , Bolder Boulder and Chicago Marathon . At the Pan American Games in 1991 he won over 10,000 m.

In 1993 he was twelfth in the Paris Marathon and failed at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart over 10,000 m in the run. The following year he finished sixth in the London Marathon . In twelfth place at the 1994 Half Marathon World Championships in Oslo, he won silver in the team championship. Then he took silver over 5000 m at the Ibero-American Championships.

In 1995 a third place at the Los Angeles Marathon followed a preliminary round over 10,000 m at the World Championships in Gothenburg . Even at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he did not get past the first round over 10,000 m.

At the 1998 World Cross Country Championships in Marrakech, he finished 110th.
