Pitje Puck
The children's book series Pitje Puck (originally Pietje Puk ) was invented and written by the Dutch author Henri Arnoldus .
Plot and characters
The children's book series is about Pitje Puck , the always cheerful postman in the small town of Kesseldorf . There he lives in the post office with his parrot Lorchen , his cat Dickerchen and his dog Schlappohr .
Pitje Puck is good friends with the village baker, whose name is cream puff , and the two of them often play pranks on each other. The usually bad-tempered policeman of the village, who bears the name Knurrhahn , often threatens Pitje Puck with criminal charges because of his pranks, which Pitje also perpetrates on him, or other offenses . However, he never realizes his threats and Pitje and Knurrhahn keep making friends, which usually don't last long. Mayor Herrschmann gets along very well with Pitje Puck and tries to settle the disputes between Knurrhahn and Pitje Puck.
Other supporting characters are the butcher meatball , the hairdresser Scharfschnitt , the merchant Blasi Sattelheld and the petty criminal Jakob Dauerklau or the doctor pill-turner .
Volumes
Since 1958, 47 original volumes have been published, 30 of which have been translated into German. The books are published by Weichert-Verlag and illustrated throughout by Peter Wrobel .
