Henning Schlueter (actor)
Henning Behrend Schlueter (born March 1, 1927 in Hamburg ; † July 20, 2000 there ) was a German actor .
Life
Henning Schlüter first studied philosophy , psychology and German studies from 1946 to 1949 and also completed an acting training course. In 1949 he became a member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin , where he remained under contract until 1952. He also played at the same time under Bert Brecht in his Berlin ensemble . In 1952 Schlüter moved to Hamburg to attend the Kammerspiele there . Further theater stations followed in Bochum , Berlin (West) and again in Hamburg.
Since 1960 Schlüter has also played roles in film and television on a regular basis. The character actor with his imposing stature and voice also achieved international fame. Schlüter played in Italian, French, American and English productions under internationally renowned directors such as Visconti (in his portrait of Ludwig II. ), Christian-Jaque (in the multi-part race to Bombay ), Roman Polański (in What? ) And Billy Wilder (in One, two, three , Wilder's satire on the Cold War ) and alongside famous fellow actors like Elizabeth Taylor and Henry Fonda ( The Rival ), James Cagney ( One, two, three ) and Ben Kingsley ( The Train ). In German productions, he played with a wide range in comedies like Willi the child is already rocking alongside Heinz Erhardt , in literary adaptations as in Schlöndorff's Oscar -prämierten adaptation of Gunter Grass ' The Tin Drum , the mini-series Tadellöser & Wolff and a chapter of its own by Walter Kempowski and the film adaptation of the novel The Elixirs of the Devil by E. T. A. Hoffmann .
The role of Franz Millinger , whom he played between 1977 and 1984 as the superior of Siegfried Lowitz as Commissioner Erwin Köster in Der Alte , brought him particular popularity . In 1985, Schlueter himself played the leading role in a crime series as a senior partner in the law firm Wolff and Wolff in A Sensible Case .
In addition, Schlüter lent his voice to numerous radio plays and dubbed versions. He became known to young audiences for his supporting role as Captain Buddelmann in the radio play Flitze Feuerzahn . He can be heard above all in various EUROPA productions, so u. a. in the series Pitje Puck, TKKG and Die drei ???.
In 1966, the amateur photographer also published the illustrated book Ladies, Lords and Liederjane .
In 2004, the historian and journalist Joachim C. Fest dedicated his book Encounters. There is also a chapter about his long-time friend Henning Schlueter about friends near and far .
He was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery.
