The Pizzo di Vogorno is a 2442 m high mountain peak north-east above the Swiss village Vogorno at the entrance to the Verzasca valley , which dominates the north shore of Lake Maggiore .
From the top, the climber has a wide view of the Alps , but also of the lake landscape of southern Ticino and the Po plain behind . In good weather, the silhouette of the Apennines can be seen.
Routes to the summit
The paths to Pizzo di Vogorno are marked alpine hiking trails. On the southwest side from San Antonio in Vogorno, two paths lead to the summit on both sides of the Valle del Molino , which unite at Alp Bardughè (here you can also take the cable car from San Bartolomeo in the Verzasca Valley, overnight accommodation). In the east of the mountain, an ascent leads from the Capanna Borgna , a hut belonging to the Società Escursionistica Verzaschese , accessible from several valleys , to the highest point of the mountain. Another long ascent from Lavertezzo in the northwest leads through the Val Carecchio to the Bocchetta di Rognoi , where you meet the path coming from the Capanna Borgna.
Occasionally, the summit is climbed on skis even in winter. To do this, you usually go up from Vogorno. The skis have to be carried almost to Rienza on the ascent and descent from Vogorno. Alternatively, the challenging access from Mornera (cable car from Monte Carasso ) is possible in winter .
