Pyotr Nikiforowitsch Iwaschew ( Russian Пётр Никифорович Ивашев * 2 . Jul / 13. September  1767 greg. ; † 9 jul. / 21st November  1838 greg. In Undory at Simbirsk ) was a Russian general , military engineer, participants in the Russo-Turkish War 1787–1792 , the Patriotic War in 1812 and participant on a trip abroad from 1813 to 1814.

Career

In early 1795 Pyotr Ivaschew received the rank of colonel. He served the generals Alexander Suvorov and Mikhail Kutuzov . Suvorov respected Ivashev. He was not only his aide, but his good friend as well. He spoke French and German.

In March 1798 he was promoted to major general. In November 1798, Ivaschew was retired because he had received wounds in the assault on Ismajil and Praga . He returned to service in July 1811. From August to November 1811, under Ivashev's leadership, 118 miles of roads were built, 924 miles repaired, and 180 bridges built. Ivashev retired in 1817.

Ivaschew is said to have been a member of the Leipzig Economic Society . He is considered to be the founder of Undory Hydrotherapy and one of the initiators of the opening of Karamsin's public city library in Simbirsk.

His son Vasily Ivaschew was a Decembrist .
