Suddenly Santa is a Norwegian Christmas film from 2016 based on the short story Snekker Andersen og Julenissen (Carpenter Andersen and Santa Claus) for children. The story was written by Alf Prøysen and first published in a cooperative membership magazine in 1957.

As he does every year, the carpenter Andersen wants to give his family an unforgettable Christmas and is putting a lot of effort into the preparations, but he is slowly getting on the nerves of his wife with his clumsiness. The two older children no longer believe in Santa Claus and want to prove to their little brother that Santa Claus is the father. So the two decide to unmask him.
It got dark on Christmas Eve and Andersen is getting ready to play Santa Claus. But due to an accident, he rushes down the mountain with the sledge and rams a tree. When he comes to, the real Santa is standing in front of him. At first Andersen doesn't want to believe it, but then he makes a deal with Santa Claus. Santa's children have never seen a real carpenter. Andersen will give Santa's children an unforgettable Christmas and Santa Claus will give the Andersen children an unforgettable Christmas.
Now the Andersens don't see their father disguised as Santa Claus, but the real one. Andersen's two older children are a little amazed at how well their father disguised himself, but they'll manage to expose their father.

The children's story on which the film is based is one of the classics in Norway, so it is read every year on Norwegian television NRK on Christmas Eve.
The film was shown at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck 2017.
