Plamena Nikitassova

Plamena Nikitassova (* 1975 in Varna ) is a Bulgarian classical violinist and specialist in early music .

life and work

When she was 16, Plamena Nikitassova received a scholarship to study music, which took her to Switzerland . She first studied classical violin with M. Karafilova Piguet at the Geneva University of Music and with Michael Frischenschlager at the Vienna University of Music . In 1999 she received her soloist diploma in Geneva with first prize and distinction. She initially devoted herself to a concert activity with works from the romantic violin repertoire. After meeting the Dutch violinist Jaap Schröder and the Viennese organist Michael Radulescu , she began training in early music with a focus on the Renaissance and Baroque in the class of Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis . She completed this degree in 2005. In addition, she completed master classes with Hansheinz Schneeberger and Jaap Schröder. Her musical development was supported by the Wilsdorf Foundation in Geneva and Leenhards in Lausanne.

The artist's repertoire mainly includes works from the early baroque to the romantic period. She was the founder of the Entr'Acte Basel ensemble . She often gives concerts in collaboration with Rudolf Lutz , Jörg-Andreas Bötticher , Chiara Banchini, Martin Gester and the pianist Aline Zylberajch as soloist, chamber musician and concert master. From 2013 to 2017 Plamena Nikitassova was concertmaster with the orchestra of the Johann Sebastian Bach Foundation St. Gallen . Plamena Nikitassova cultivates "Eastern European folk music, in which both lust for life and melancholy find their expression, with passion" and thus maintains the connection to her musical roots. At the same time she is dedicated to the chamber music of the 20th century.

Plamena Nikitassova gives master classes in baroque violin, baroque viola and chamber music. She plays an old scale violin by Sebastian Klotz (Mittenwald around 1730) and a modern violin by Pierre Dalphin (Geneva 1992).
