The Planzer Holding AG is a Swiss transport - and logistics company based in Seewen , community Schwyz .

The company is wholly owned by the Planzer family and employs around 5,300 people and over 330 trainees.

In 2019, Planzer Holding AG generated sales of around CHF 1 billion .

Field of activity

Planzer has in Switzerland 59 sites, and another in Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Liechtenstein and Hong Kong, and its almost 2,500 vehicles transport services in the areas of general cargo , part - and full loads , night service , combined transport , air freight - Replacement transport and temperature-controlled transport.

In addition, Planzer has around 1,040,000 m² of storage space and offers logistical system services.

The Planzer package service has been offered since 2018, in which shipments weighing up to 30 kg are transported.

Around 50 percent of sales come from national road transports. The remaining 50 percent are divided between international transports, special transports, warehouses and parcel services .

history

The company was founded in 1936 by Max Planzer sen. Founded as a haulage company for the transport of goods between the Dietikon train station and the traders in the small town and its surroundings.

In 1966 the company was converted into a stock corporation. Two years later, the takeover of Euler Transport AG in Zurich followed.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Planzer opened its first branches in locations such as Geneva, Chiasso, Basel and Zurich Airport, which are important for goods transport.

With the co- founding of Transito Spedition GmbH in Uettingen (Germany) in 1978 and the establishment of Planzer Trasporti SrL in Como (Italy) in 1989, Planzer expanded into neighboring countries. In 1988 the company opened its first logistics center in Kaiseraugst, which was followed by another in Villmergen in 1991.

In 1993 Planzer took over the transport company Gebr. Kuoni AG, founded in 1894, with locations in Chur and Samedan. In 1994 Planzer took a stake in Quali-Night AG, which specializes in night service . With the founding of Planzer Transports Sàrl in Frisange (Luxembourg) in 1995, the company expanded its international presence. In 1996 Planzer took part in the privatization of Cargo Domizil AG in Bern, which was founded in 1981 as part of the SBB .

From the end of the 1990s, Planzer began to take over a number of smaller transport and logistics companies, thereby growing into one of the leading companies in the logistics and transport sector in Switzerland.

In 2014, Planzer was one of the first transport companies in Switzerland to add an electric truck to its fleet, primarily serving the larger Swiss cities.

Planzer Transport, Camion-Transport , Galliker Holding and Bertschi AG have a 35% stake in SBB Cargo through Swiss Combi AG . Planzer holds 40% of the Swiss Combi shares.

In 2014 Planzer Transport AG took over the Maier forwarding company in Singen and in 2016 the Decker forwarding company based in Achern .
