Plastic City , a German record label based in Berlin , has been releasing various artists and DJs in the Tech House a . a. The Timewriter and Terry Lee Brown Junior , Marshall Jefferson , AWeX (including Tom Wax ), Steve Poindexter , Kriss Dior aka Bassface Sascha , David Alvarado, Andry Nalin (including Nalin & Kane), Alexi Delano and G-Pal. Until 2003, the label belonged to UCMG , based in Neckargemünd near Heidelberg . In 2003 it was taken over by Holophon at short notice . In 2004 the label was taken over by Daredo from Mannheim . In November 2017, the Berlin-based company UCM.ONE acquired the Plastic City label and many other former UCMG labels including trademarks and catalogs from Daredo.

From 1995 to 2002 the label also had offices in London (Plastic City UK.) And in New York (Plastic City America), some of which have their own separate single releases and each with its own artist base. As a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 and due to the fact that the New York office was located at Ground Zero (corner of John and Gold Street in Downtown Manhattan ), label activities in the USA were discontinued. A short time later there were no new releases on Plastic City UK either. Many of the artists from this time from the two sister labels from the USA and UK publish today directly on the “mother label” in Germany.

Alexander Hendorf (A&R) was initially musically responsible . Babak Shayan (2001-2002) was added later . Joachim Keil has been responsible for the music since 2004, and Alex Flatner has also been involved in looking after the artists since 2006 . The takeover of UCM.ONE did not change these responsibilities, as the employees were also taken over from Daredo .

Plastic City's most successful releases include the compilation series Terry's Cafe (1-16) and Deep Train (1-6), as well as the albums by Terry Lee Brown Junior and The Timewriter .

Since August 2008 the Plastic City Radio Show has been running regularly on Sonica Radio Ibiza , Proton Radio or Sceen FM and can also be heard on Mixcloud .

The label philosophy

Plastic City is a city that is not made of stone or metal, but rather is composed of the thoughts of the listeners. At least that is what scientists are said to have published in the "Scientist Report Network" in 2495.

The publications are divided into so-called ages: "Early Days" (1993–1996), "Age Of Search and Destruction" (1996–1998), "Reconstructed" (1998–2002), "Maybe.Plastic City" (2003– 2006) and currently "Imagination Of The Shape" (2006 – today).
