The Pletschbach is a left tributary of the Rhine between Dormagen and Cologne - Worringen .
The springs originally sprang from various inlets in the Knechtstedener Wald . However , these have all dried up due to the lignite mining and the resulting lowering of the groundwater . In two places, water is poured through the Rheinbraun into the Knechtstedener Graben , which is connected to the Pletschbach , but this is not enough to flood the dry ditches.
Therefore, the Pletschbach from Knechtsteden to Delhoven can only be seen as a dry ditch, due to a rainwater seepage at the Delhoven sports field, the Pletschbach flows there again for the first time, after which the water seeps away again.
The ditch of the Pletschbach can also be followed in the direction of Hackenbroich , but this ends at the level of the Waldsee in Hackenbroich. It used to lead through Hackenbroich, fed the moats of Hackenbroich Castle and continued towards Arff Castle , where it also flooded the moats of the former moated castle.
From about Arff Castle , the Pletschbach moat, still dry, can be seen again. It continues in a south-west direction, crosses under the Cologne Rand Canal , then the A57 . Dry, it crosses the Worringer Landstrasse towards Worringer Bruch . From here the Pletschbach carries water again and flows west of the B9 on the edge of the Rheinaue to Worringer Hafen, where it flows into the Rhine with the Cologne Rand Canal .
