Pleuricospora is a plant from the family of the Ericaceae (Ericaceae) and the only species in the genus.

description

Pleuricospora fimbriolata is a chlorophyllless , myco-heterotrophic herbaceous plant . Their root system is coral-shaped, the shoot and inflorescence axis that sprout from them is upright and creamy white to reddish. The leaves are simple.

The inflorescence is one to multi-flowered, the tubular flowers are usually four-fold. Sepals are present, the petals are not overgrown. The stamens are as long as the crown , the anthers do not turn over. The pen is permanent, the scar only slightly expanded.

The ovary shows parietal placentation . The fruit does not open, the seeds are egg-shaped and thick-skinned.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 52.

distribution

The species is found in western North America in British Columbia, Oregon, Washington and California at altitudes between 150 and 2750 meters.

Systematics

The species and genus were first described by Asa Gray in 1868.
